Every project begins with an in-home consultation. This meeting gives clients direct access to more than 25 years of design experience, problem-solving, and practical guidance tailored to their space and goals. We walk through the home together, answer questions, discuss priorities, and share recommendations that help clients move forward with a clearer sense of direction.
After the consultation, we develop a detailed design proposal outlining the project scope, design fees, and next steps. Once approved, we schedule a kickoff meeting where we take measurements, photograph and document the space, and discuss your priorities in greater detail. This phase helps us fully understand how the home needs to function and what matters most to you.
This phase is where the vision starts to take shape. We’ll guide you through mood boards, preliminary layouts, and key material selections. There are plenty of decisions to make, but we keep the process manageable by presenting only the most thoughtful, perfect-fit options.
Once the overall direction is approved, we finalize the details. Clients review 3D renderings, materials, furnishings, finishes, and samples so they can fully experience the vision for the space before construction or ordering begins. This is also when project pricing and implementation details are finalized.
Once construction and ordering begin, we coordinate closely with contractors, trades, vendors, and installers to help keep the project moving smoothly. We stay involved behind the scenes throughout the process, answer questions as they come up, and communicate regularly so clients always know where things stand without feeling buried in day-to-day project management.

After receiving a formal education in technical interior design, which included a year of study in Milan, Laura Abrams worked for 10 years for an established design firm before starting her business. Her knowledge and continued passion for design makes her a true asset to her clients. She takes the time to explain WHY decisions are being made, educating them along the way with candor and kindness.
Yes! We take your lifestyle into consideration and want to create a space that feels livable and makes sense for the way you actually live. If durable finishes and fabrics are a priority, we recommend materials that can withstand spills and scratches without requiring constant maintenance. As a mother to teens and a dog, Laura appreciates having a home that can withstand the realities of everyday life without sacrificing great design.
Most of our projects are new construction homes and whole-home renovations where we are involved from the early planning stages through the finishing details. We also take on comprehensive furnishings projects involving multiple rooms or larger areas of the home.
Depending on the scope, our work may include space planning, kitchen and bath design, custom cabinetry, lighting and finish selections, detailed construction drawings, furniture and window treatments, as well as styling and final installation.
Yes. We design second and vacation homes both in San Diego and throughout the country. We frequently work with clients remotely and have an established process for managing projects from a distance, including virtual design meetings and travel for key meetings, site visits, and installations when needed.
We are based in Carmel Valley, San Diego and serve the surrounding neighborhoods including Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla, Fairbanks Ranch, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Solana Beach, Cardiff, Encinitas, and Carlsbad and beyond. In addition to local projects, we handle projects out of state and have designed vacation homes all over the country and abroad.
For renovation projects, construction budgets typically begin around $300,000. For furnishings-only projects, we generally work with furniture budgets starting around $100,000. New construction and full scale remodel budgets vary based on the size and scope of work.

We act as the retailer for the purchasing of furniture. We travel to trade shows in the United States and abroad to have established accounts with design trade vendors from all over the world. This allows us to provide unique and tailored solutions that you won’t find by shopping at retail stores. We handle the purchasing, tracking, storing, delivery and set up for our clients, so they can experience a turn key design.
We provide full service design, which includes an initial consultation, client kick off meeting, conceptual design meeting and detailed design meeting. We collect input and feedback from our clients along the way, to ensure that their preferences and needs are being met. We include 3D renderings of key spaces to help our clients envision the outcome and install confidence in the design decisions we are making. We then provide detailed construction drawings for the build team so the project can be executed seamlessly.
The design phase of a project can take anywhere from 8-16 weeks, depending on the size of the project. Construction and furnishings procurement can take anywhere from 3-4 months to over a year for new construction and large scale remodels.
The best time to contact us is before any design decisions have been made. For new construction projects, we coordinate with your architect and builder right from the beginning, to ensure that interior design details and budgets are incorporated properly from the start.
Before construction begins, we provide the contractor with a detailed interior design drawing set that communicates the design intent and addresses key decisions in advance. Throughout construction, we coordinate directly with the contractor and trades and attend site meetings as needed. We are the go-to resource for design-related questions.
Our goal is to anticipate decisions before they arise in the field, so our clients aren’t faced with last-minute questions or unexpected design decisions during construction. When questions come up, we work directly with the project team to resolve them while keeping the overall design intent intact.
We can work with the general contractor of our clients’ choosing, or we are happy to recommend one of our trusted general contractors and architects when needed.
